The preferred and recommended route to obtain the IIA SA designations
is through the successful completion of a professional training program.
In order for a program to be initiated, the candidate should be employed
with an organisation that meets the requirements of a training provider
approved by the IIA SA. The employer would need to be able to provide
exposure as required by the training logbook (TLB), enable and encourage
the learner to attend the training modules, and provide internal logistical
support. The employer must sign an Operational Agreement with the IIA
SA, and the learner should enter into a learnership agreement with the
employer and training provider.
The format of the Professional Training Programs is such that they are
not bound to an academic or calendar year, and so can start at any time,
once the required number of participants has been sourced. To contain
costs, a minimum group size of 20 is required before commencement of a
program. The group may be homogenous (from a single employer) or generic
(drawn from different employers). Also note that no more than 25 will
be enrolled in a TM group, to ensure efficient transfer of knowledge.
The total cost of the program is made up of three elements: the training
modules including course material, files, an induction & closing-out
session, accreditation & verification visits, and the final assessment;
the IIA SA membership costs (if not already a member); and the cost of
the facility used for the presentation of the training modules - where
that is applicable.
